How You Can Help Shaimus

As an indie band, one of our best resources is our fans: you are our biggest asset! We need your help to spread the word so we can keep making music and someday come to your town to play a show. If you're interested in helping to spread the word, here are a whole bunch of easy ways to do it!

NETWORK


Social networks are all the rage these days, and you web-savvy fans are probably already a part of at least two or three of them. Luckily, they also provide a ton of very simple ways to show the world it should listen to Shaimus:

  • Let's be friends: First things first! Be our fan on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and add us as a friend on MySpace or any other network you're on. Join and create groups about us. Add us on your iLike and become a listener on Last.fm.
  • Add Shaimus to your favorite music: Most sites have a place where you can list your favorite bands. Put Shaimus in there for all your friends to see and say "Who the hell is that? I must listen!"
  • Add us to your top friends: Social networks often let you proudly display your favorite friends... Why not add Shaimus to your best buddies?
  • Put our music on your page: Add a Lala.com music widget with our songs to your pages. Put one of our songs on your MySpace page. Put a song on your Facebook page. Do whatever you can to let people instantly listen to our music!
  • Update your status: Have your Facebook/MySpace status say that Shaimus rocks, or that our new album is totally worth listening to. Are you on Twitter? Tweet about how you really like the song "Like a Fool" or that you love listening to "Stuck Around" while eating lollipops in your backyard.
  • Get visual: It's easy to embed and share YouTube videos, so why not put up a Shaimus vid or two?
  • Go postal: Post a note or a bulletin about the band. Share our website in your Facebook posted items.
  • Bookmark: Are you on social bookmarking sites like de.licio.us? Add our site!
  • Make a playlist: Pandora... Last.fm... iTunes... Make a playlist with some of our music.
  • Start a conversation: Comment on posts you see about us. Start conversations and mention us on forums... There are about a million of 'em online just full of people who want to hear a cool new band!

BLOG


Just about everyone has a blog now. If you do, you have promotional power right at your fingertips.

  • Subscribe: Subscribe to the RSS feed of our blog! It will keep you up to date on our thoughts and activities.
  • Blog: Write a blog post (or more than one, if you want) about Shaimus. Talk about a favorite song and why you like it. Write an album review. Talk about why you listen to Shaimus... and tell other people to listen, too!
  • Link: Link to our sites whenever possible. That way when your amazing blog post catches people's interest, they are one click away from listening.
  • Add widgets: Lots of blogs have sidebars where you can put cool widgets from sites like Reverbnation and other music sites.
  • Tell us: We like commenting on posts about us. Maybe we will even throw up a link back to your blog. We wanna know about what you have to say!

CREATE


We know a lot of you are creative types and have amazing talents that we don't even know about. Put them to use for a fun project!

  • Make a video: Make a music video, or just use one of our songs creatively in a video. Put it on YouTube and other video sharing sites, and be sure to credit us for the music in the video and the description.
  • Make artwork: Make a funny photoshop of our faces. Paint a Shaimus portrait. Do something visual. Put it on all your social sites.
  • Use your talents: Make a fan website. Make a Shaimus video game where you guide Phil through an office, trashing computers and listening to "Turn the Other Way." Come up with anything creative that you can and do it. If you want some tips or ideas to help, ask us!

PROMOTE

It's not all limited to cyberspace.

  • Radio play: Get us on your local or college radio station. Call in and request us.
  • Make connections: Do you have any other musical connections? We give you permission to whore us out.
  • Flyer the town: Print out promo materials and hang them 'round town or put them in strategic places. Take pictures and send them to us.
  • Tell a friend: Get a friend to sign up for the email list.
  • Party down: Throw a Rock Band 2 party; wear your Shaimus shirt to a party or gathering and take a photo and send it to us!
  • Spread the music: Bring a CD to a local coffeehouse to play as background music. Give a copy to a popular local DJ.
  • Cover a song: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... Videotape yourself playing a Shaimus song live and put it on YouTube!
